Application Engineer - Reading, PA
We have an immediate opening for an Application Engineer at our
Corporate Office.
Hours are 8am - 5pm, Monday through Friday
This document provides a high-level view of the specific job
responsibilities of the Application Engineer. This job description
is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee may perform other
related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the
organization.
Essential Responsibilities:
-Review Plans and Specification documentation for handover process
to determine if we have sufficient information to begin the
submittal process.
- After application engineering handover review, when necessary,
request additional information (RFI's) from
contractor/plant/consultant or send out structural recommendations
(for new tanks) to contractor.
- Be present at specific handover and kickoff meetings as a liaison
between engineering and sales and be prepared to discuss project
from a technical aspect.
- Provide application advice, information, calculations for
budgetary requests.
- Work with process engineering to determine proper equipment
required based on loading, tank sizes, etc.
- Perform preliminary Autocad designs and drawing reviews and
modifications for customer requirements.
- Modify Cad drawings for projects using new tanks, so that the
equipment will fit, be properly supported, and allow Brentwood to
provide our standard equipment where possible.
- Provide drawings to customers showing similar applications to
their project.
- On occasion, assist engineering on special projects and
submittals.
- Assist in estimating and proposal writing if situation
arises.
- Create job specific plate drawings for customers to take tank
measurements so that when engineering is ready to begin the
submittal process, they have the information required to complete
submittal. Review plans and specifications for budgetary and
bidding projects to determine criteria for the estimate and
proposal, including tank dimensions; tank and mechanism quantities;
material variances; unusual sizes and other project specific
requirements.
Essential Skills:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in
Engineering from a four-year college or university; 2+ years
related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of
education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret plans,
specifications, common scientific and technical journals, financial
reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common
inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or
members of the business community. Ability to effectively prepare
and present information to customers, engineers, contractors, top
management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to prepare and use spreadsheets,
calculate amounts, proportions, percentages, decreases etc.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to understand customer needs, define
problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and
present solutions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of
technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal
with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER: Typical noise level in office: Moderate (examples: business
office with computers and printers, light foot traffic). Assist in
other areas/departments as required.
