RN First Assistant, your role is pivotal in ensuring the success of
complex cardiovascular surgeries within our esteemed department.
Your primary responsibility lies in providing invaluable support to
the surgical team throughout all phases of the procedure. This
includes assisting the surgeon during the operation by providing
instruments, suturing, and maintaining a sterile environment.
You'll be relied upon to anticipate the needs of the surgeon,
ensuring seamless workflow and optimal patient outcomes. Your
expertise in cardiovascular anatomy, endoscopic and open vessel
harvesting, and surgical techniques will be instrumental in
navigating the intricacies of each procedure. Additionally, your
ability to remain composed under pressure and collaborate
effectively with the surgical team will be essential for achieving
excellence in this role.JOB SUMMARY:The Cardiovascular Operating
Room (CVOR) Registered Nurse First Assistant embodies the essence
of excellence within our esteemed cardiac surgery department.
Teaming up with the esteemed surgeon, Dr. Lodge, they orchestrate
the execution of intricate procedures, including coronary artery
bypass grafts, valve repair and replacement, and aortic surgery.
With a deep-rooted grasp of the nursing process and an unwavering
commitment to upholding the highest professional standards, they
navigate each day with finesse and mastery. Thriving amidst the
intensity of the CVOR, their ability to excel under pressure and
cultivate seamless teamwork serves as a linchpin for success in
this pivotal role.MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):Bachelor's degree in
NursingTwo (2) years nursing experienceCurrently licensed to
practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a
multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure
CompactCertification in Perioperative Nursing (CNOR)BLS required
prior to orientation completion. Must be obtained through Penn
State Health or American Heart Association (AHA).PREFERRED
QUALIFICATION(S):Certification as an RN-First Assistant (CRNFA)
