Description We are seeking a skilled Construction Accountant to
join our team and manage the financial aspects of multiple
construction projects. You will play a crucial role in tracking and
analyzing project costs, ensuring financial alignment with budgets,
and facilitating accurate project cost reporting. Responsibilities
Track and analyze project costs, ensuring alignment with budgets.
Oversee the financial management of multiple projects. Manage job
cost systems, including data input, account reconciliation, and
variance analysis. Collaborate closely with project managers to
ensure accurate project cost reporting. Assist with project
closeouts, including final invoicing and lien releases. Prepare and
submit accurate and timely project invoices. Verify that billing
aligns with project contracts and milestones. Compile required
supporting documentation. Coordinate with project managers to
address any billing discrepancies. Rectify billing errors as needed
to maintain the accuracy of invoices. Manage the entire accounts
payable process, including processing invoices and pay
applications, verifying contract values and retainage calculations,
coding, posting, and disbursing payments. Reconcile vendor and
subcontractor accounts. Collaborate with project managers and
subcontractors to resolve payment discrepancies. Support month- and
year-end close processes as requested, including maintaining
committed cost accuracy, and management of open items, such as
unbilled invoices. Prepare forecasts and cash flow reports. Assist
in the preparation of WIP schedules for ongoing construction
projects. Provide management with requested reports as necessary.
Ensure compliance with accounting principles and industry
standards. Provide excellent customer service by responding to
clients’ concerns and inquiries promptly and professionally. Manage
the company’s compliance with income, gross receipts, and sales
taxes across multiple jurisdictions. Update software programs and
archive databases as required. Ensure accurate data synchronization
between ERP, Procore, and/or Timberscan. Essential Skills Strong
integrity and work ethic. Strong technical skills. Bachelor's
degree preferred. A minimum of 3-5 years in construction accounting
or a similar role. Previous experience with construction project
accounting software (e.g., Procore, Sage 100 Contractor,
Timberscan, and Textura). Experience in architecture and
engineering/construction AIA completion billing, job costing,
and/or service provider accounting. Familiarity with construction
contracts, change orders, and project documentation. Proficiency in
Microsoft Excel. Strong analytical, organizational, and
communication skills. Ability to seek out information and find
solutions to keep projects on track financially. Ability to work
independently and collaboratively. Ability to manage multiple tasks
and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Thorough
understanding of job cost accounting and financial reporting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in architecture and
engineering/construction AIA completion billing. Familiarity with
construction contracts, change orders, and project documentation.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out
of Baltimore, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position
is $33.65 - $38.46/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some
benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of
