Information Position PurposeThe Director of the Women’s Resource
Center and Gender and Sexuality Center is a 12-month position which
serves as a member of the department of Diversity, Equity, and
Inclusion. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of DEI,
this person will coordinate, plan and assess programs and
initiatives for the Women’s Resource Center and Gender and
Sexuality Center. This individual will serve as the center’s
principal advisor for developing, enhancing and assessing the
campus culture and its impact on students who identify as female,
as well as students who identify as members of the LGBTQIA
community.Description of DutiesAssist in the developing and
implementing strategic initiatives, student and campus outreach,
assessment, follow-up and programmatic opportunities for the
student populations of the Women’s Resource Center and Gender and
Sexuality Center.Develop and enhance a culture of inclusion,
appreciation, understanding, and support for both female and
LGBTQIA communities at Commonwealth University.Partner with
academic programs, presidential commissions, student groups, and
the Title IX coordinator to serve as a resource, support, and
champion for equality where female and LGBTQIA students may be
impacted.Develop and implement a comprehensive array of campus-wide
programming related to the overall success, appreciation and
integration of the female and LGBTQIA populations.Participate in
campus-wide planning for inclusion, equity, and safety.Actively
listen and provide appropriate resource for students experiencing
issues related to gender status or gender identity.Be an immediate
resource for students who may be experiencing crisis as a result of
concerns or issues related to gender and LGBTQIA.Provide
educational programming to create a safe and inclusive campus
culture.Educational Programming and Resources to Campus
CommunityDirect, manage, or collaborate on the development and
implementation of signature programs focusing on supporting females
and LGBTQIA communities.Develop and implement additional
educational programming to meet stated goals that promote an
inclusive campus environment.Manage, update, and make available a
variety of resources for the campus community, including keeping
the website current and offering materials in the centers and
around campus.Develop and coordinate programs for the Center for
Diversity and Inclusion which includes the Multicultural Center,
LGBTQA, Student Services, and International Education.Other Duties
as AssignedMay be asked to serve on divisional/institutional/PASSHE
committeesContinued professional development related to student
concerns; continued knowledge of best practices and innovative
approaches.Represent institution in appropriate professional or

MakingDecision making in this position ranges from the routine to
crisis. Regular decisions will be made regarding developmental
programming, allocation of resources, and normal operations.In
rarer instances, the director will make decisions regarding
students in crisis and will have to make decisions regarding
student safety, assist victims with understanding their rights and
assist them in their decision making regarding how they would like
to utilize support and legal services. The director will also
determine when referrals (crisis and non-crisis) may be required
and conduct appropriate follow-up.Fiscal ResponsibilityIn
consultation with Executive Director of DEI, develop and manage
operational budget and plan expenditures throughout the
year.Supervisory ResponsibilityThe director may supervise a
graduate assistant, work study students, and volunteers and provide
training as needed.Minimum Requirements Profile1. Bachelor’s degree
required, with Master’s degree preferred; consideration given to
programs of study related to gender or women’s studies2. Experience
working within DEI issues with college-aged students3.
Administrative experience4. Familiarity with the collegiate
environment5. Ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety
of constituencies, including students, staff, alumni, community
resources, and faculty6. Director must be a trained sexual assault
advocate. If not already a trained advocate, the director will be
expected to complete training and other responsibilities associated
with being a sexual assault advocate within 45 days of

to note that while the work of this position largely occurs in an
office setting, programming may occur in a variety of locations,
including the Student Union, Student Services Center, Residence
Halls, or other locations.A flexible schedule will be established
as evening and weekend hours will be expected.In order for the
director to be effective, it is expected that this person will have
or create interactive working relationships with key offices,
departments and individuals on campus and in the community. In
particular, resources in the Gender Studies Minor, PASSHE Women’s
