Job Description:
The EOP Student Success Advisors responsibilities include
academic, personal, career and financial aid advisement. The SSA
will monitor their respected caseload and assist EOP scholars in
all phases of their collegiate career in order ensure that the
student is maximizing their potential and maintaining student
success. Duties and Responsibilities: • The EOP Student Success
Advisor is a full-time advisor who will help navigate many of the
logistical aspects of their Seton Hall journey, including
understanding Compass, Banner, financial aid, first-year course
selection and managing registration requirements including holds. •
The EOP Student Success Advisor will have bi-weekly advising
appointments with students on an Action Plan. Action Plan consists
of students with semester or cumulative GPA below a 2.75. In
addition to meeting with Action Plan students bi-weekly, the EOP
Student Success Advisor must meet with non-Action Plan students on
a monthly basis. • The EOP Student Success Advisor will track
student’s financial aid verification status for both federal &
state level. If a student is chosen for verification, the SSA will
work with financial aid and the student to ensure verification is
complete. • The EOP Student Success Advisor will maintain accurate
records and files related to their respective caseload and generate
reports upon request. Some examples include, but are not limited
to: Student ID numbers, first and last name, Action Plan notes,
semester and yearly GPA, class year, retention, graduation rates,
etc Files may be kept electronically in an excel file. • The EOP
Student Success Advisor will teach a 5 to 6-week summer enrichment
course (EXAC 1111) and a Fall section of University Life for EOP
scholars. • In collaboration with the students Academic Advisor,
the EOP Student Success Advisor will ensure that the student is on
track to graduate within the designated time. • Other duties as
assigned by the Director or Associate Director of EOP. * Please
note that this position is student facing and is an on-campus
position. Required Qualifications: 1. Master’s Degree in
Psychology, Sociology, Counseling or a related discipline. 2. At
least one year of professional experience in college level academic
advising/counseling, career counseling and/or financial advisement.
3. At least one year working with EOF, HEOP, TRIO, Upward Bound, or
Student Support Services programs. Salary Range: $44,000 - $60,500
