Job Description:

Title: Safety Manager
Summary: The Safety Manager is responsible for the effective design and implementation of our Safety Program. The Safety Manager will provide leadership, professional knowledge and expertise in the administration and support of all safety processes for the Company including regulatory compliance, organizational policies, and employee knowledge and awareness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Develop and implement effective safety programs to prevent accidents/injuries
  • Lead by example to promote and encourage employees to strongly commit to safety
  • Working knowledge of OSHA's regulations to ensure compliance
  • Develop and conduct safety training sessions to ensure employees' knowledge, understanding and adherence to safety pertaining to the operation.


    • Develop procedures, work instructions and visual standards as needed to drive improvement and ensure implementation


      • Work closely with departments to prevent incidents
      • Assist with accident/injury investigations to discover root cause
      • Ensure all safety issues identified during internal/external audits are resolved
      • Ability to effectively communicate risks to all CBW departments
      • Assist with employee's return-to-work and modified duties
      • Measures effectiveness of Safety Program and processes
      • Other duties as required

          Qualifications:
          To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.           • Previous logistics and/or warehouse experience preferred
          • Behavior based safety experience preferred, particularly DuPont STOP
          • Knowledge of DOT regulations helpful
          • Working knowledge of OSHA's regulations
          • Able to handle sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality
          • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
          • Effective oral and written communication skills
          • Excellent interpersonal skills
          • Able to work productively independently and in a group setting
          • Proper sense of urgency with all levels of management, peers, and customers
          • Previous experience working with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint



            Education/Experience:
            Bachelor's Degree; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

            Language Ability:
            Ability to communicate and correspond with customers, co-workers, and management effectively in English

            Math Ability:
            Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

            Reasoning Ability:
            Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

            Computer Skills:
            To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the aptitude to learn technology including general PC functions.

            Work Environment:
            The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

            While working in the Distribution Center at Cooper-Booth, the employee is exposed to varying temperatures corresponding with the seasons. If required to work in the freezer, the employee will be exposed to temperatures ranging from 0 to -10 degrees F. If required to work on the cooler dock, the employee will be exposed to temperatures ranging from 33 to 35 degrees F. The level of humidity in all areas ranges from very low to very high, depending on the season. The noise level in this environment is usually moderate.

            Physical Demands:
            The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

            • Capable of reaching, squatting, kneeling, bending, standing and walking as needed during shift
            • Capable of working in an environment with varying temperatures, as low as -10 degrees F
