POSITION SUMMARY:

Penske's HR Shared Services Team is a centralized team of HR Generalists whose mission is to support associates, leaders, and the HR team by providing valuable guidance, information, and process administration of standard offerings, policies, and procedures. This team has been a fundamental part of the business's success and is there for leaders, associates, and their families during the most important times in their employment life cycle. The Shared Services team has responsibility for Penske's Leaves and Accommodations team, MyPenskeHR contact center, Centralized HR, and Pandemic response functions. The Director is a key member of the HR Leadership team, collaborating with our various division (PTS, PTL, and PL) leaders to shape the direction of this valuable function.

As the leader of the Shared Services team, you will create and execute a strategy and set goals for a team that supports associate and manager needs, while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations for both the US and Canada. The strategy should encompass creating and maintaining a team that is capable of answering associate and manager questions regarding general HR and payroll practices, policies, and procedures, along with a compliant and user-friendly leave and accommodation practice, and a professional centralized HR team. You will guide and develop the team to meet professional and legal standards, optimize processes, while providing outstanding customer service.

In this role you will develop a group of high performing and caring professionals, optimize efficiencies, creates consistency of practices, ensure organizational compliance, and create a culture highly engaged professionals focused on exceptional customer service. You will lead the team to provide timely and appropriate handling of associate requests, support managers, and contribute to business continuity. In this role, you will be responsible for the effective and efficient management of the functions within the department, setting and monitoring quality standards.

This position requires effective communication and collaboration with Corporate and Field HR partners, the Payroll team, Labor Relations, Legal, and Penske Truck Leasing, Penske Transportation Solutions, and Penske Logistics field operations and corporate leadership.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Leadership: Collaborates with the HR Leadership team to create a strategy, goals, and execution plan for the Shared Services teams that enables business continuity, upholds standards, and creates efficiencies for HR processes. Champions a culture of engagement where associate can do their best work and customers experience empathetic, professional, and knowledgeable support.

Analytics: Leads the team to develop and prepare executive reports using metrics and data. Analyzes the data to proactively create solutions to challenges and optimize opportunities. Evaluates efficacy of process and makes suggested improvements based on data. Continually evaluates data and analytics to determine process improvement opportunities that will heighten the quality of service.

People Management: Hires, coaches, develops, and directs team of managers, supervisors, and Process and Systems Analyst. Drives performance management philosophy through the team and supports the corrective counseling process.

Change Management: Drives continuous improvement to ensure effective, efficient, and compliant processes.

Associate Engagement: Leads the management team and supports practices and programs that will create high levels of engagement across the Shared Services functions.

Associate Development and Talent Management: Leads the coaching, training, and development planning process for the team, which ensures all members have the skills and knowledge needed to be successful. Develops a management and supervisory team that is professional, collaborative, and accurate.

Staffing: Works closely with the management team and Systems and Process Analyst to ensure the teams are staffed appropriately for volume and hours of operation.
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's Degree preferred
  • SPHR preferred
  • 10 years Human Resources experience in a large, decentralized, unionized environment, or strong management background with exceptional track record in call center operations and leadership along with experience in a legal or HR function, and a thorough understanding of the business
  • Effective change and continuous process management skills
  • Strong knowledge of HR generalist responsibilities and Leaves and Accommodations
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong strategic capabilities, addressing tactical challenges of the current environment while planning for the future
  • Demonstrates an executive presence commensurate with building relationships at all levels within and outside of the organization.   • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
