Job DescriptionOverview The Nurse Manager assures the provision of nursing care services in collaboration with other health professionals. This unit is a 20-bed medical/oncology unit that provides care to adult and geriatric medical oncology patients, as well as surgical gynecology patients. Most patients have a primary and/or secondary diagnosis of cancer and require treatment of chronic and episodic illness, therapeutic interventions, and side effect management. Care is also provided to patients in the terminal phase of illness. Unique services provided include chemotherapy administration and side-effect management, blood administration, management of oncologic emergencies, pain management, psychosocial and spiritual care, and inpatient hospice care. Responsibilities Job Summary * 24/7 accountability for planning and comprehensive operations of assigned department * Demonstrates clinical proficiency in current practice and knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards within the field of nursing * Able to implement sound business and human resource management plans * Reports to the Division Director * Assumes fiscal responsibility for unit management. * Develops, monitors and evaluates personnel, operations and capital budgets * Identifies and implements value enhancement opportunities * Advocates for resources essential to support quality care and service * Engages direct care staff in analyzing data to guide budget development and monitoring of resource allocation * Demonstrates effective human resource management * Manages the annual goal setting and performance evaluation process * Manages work performance and behavior of staff; implements timely performance improvement plans and steps for corrective action #LI Qualifications * Bachelor of Science in Nursing - required * Master of Science in Nursing and/or MBA - preferred * Previous unit director experience - preferred * Experience implementing and leading new initiatives * Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
