Job Summary The Geisinger Heart & Vascular Institute is seeking a Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery Physician Assistant to join the growing practice at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA.
Job Duties The Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery Physician Assistant will join 8 physician assistants. Job duties include, coverage of the cardiac ICU, OR time and some clinical responsibilities. This is a rotating position that is divided equally with the 9 PA's, including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

The Cardiothoracic Surgery department provides clinical services with dedicated 24 hour, 7 days a week Cardiac Anesthesia and ICU staff. Presently, the Cardiac and Thoracic surgeons and advanced practitioners perform the full breadth of Adult Cardiothoracic surgery. Standard and minimally invasive valvular operations and multiple arterial conduits are the standard for cardiac revascularization.

Geisinger has dedicated Heart Failure and Adult Congenital Heart disease programs throughout the system. The growing Mechanical Circulatory Support and Shock programs have energized our LVAD program which has achieved full independent certification. Our ECMO program is the largest in the region performing V-V and V-A ECMO cannulations throughout the system and recovered at Geisinger Medical Center. A multi-disciplinary Structural Heart Program performs TAVR and Mitra Clip implantation at all sites.

Geisinger Medical Center (GMC) is the country's first hospital to receive The Joint Commission/American Heart Association (AHA) Comprehensive Heart Attack Center Certification in August 2022 .
