We are looking for a Human Resources Specialist to join our newly expanded Shared Services Department. This department is central to the work of HR in our organization, supporting our associates, their families, Operations Leaders, and the Field and Corporate HR Teams. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to work among these functions. This role will have a primary focus of collaborating with Field HR to centralize enterprise-wide processes, identify improvement opportunities, and deliver a superior customer experience for the HR Teams and our customers.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Shared Services Human Resources Specialist is responsible for performing professional human resources work in a variety of concentrations, including associate relations, unemployment, relocation, background checks, and special projects assigned based on business needs. This position will work closely with Leadership in a proactive, collaborative approach to ensure the processes are consistent, compliant, and accurate to support sustained business success and impact associate engagement in a positive way.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate with HR Team (Field and Corporate) on several functions including, but not limited to; Associate Relations, investigations, background checks, policies and procedures, enterprise wide training, the ambassador program, and real-time coaching of managers.
Manage the decision making process with the daily functions related to the following: I-9 documentation, relocation process, and COVID/Pandemic Support.
Facilitate and coordinate with operational leaders and human resources on unemployment claims.
Research details to respond to unemployment claims, troubleshoot claims access, review reminders and/or requirements for additional information.
Prepare for and participate in appeals process and hearings, where applicable.
Expert attention to claims to avoid paying for fraudulent or wrongful claims.
Use the employer experience rating to reduce the unemployment tax rate.
Special assignments and tasks as assigned by the Director of Shared Services and Director of Corporate HR such as serving on process improvement teams,
coordination of small scope short term projects, collaboration with cross functional teams to identify solutions for long term initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
A minimum of 2 years of Human Resources experience preferred.
Detail oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
Skill in operation of variety of computer software programs, including Microsoft Suite. An understanding of enterprise-wide HRIS systems a plus.
Ability to interpret and effectively communicate Human Resources policies, procedures and laws.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to collect, compile, and analyze information and data.
Project management experience preferred.
High-level organizational skills and experience working with outside vendors.
Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.
