Location Description

Michael Foods, Inc. located in Klingerstown, Pennyslvania known for their ice cream socials at Klingerstown Lutheran Parish, fishing rodeo, and fireman's parade.


This position is responsible for completing the day-to-day administrative duties of the HR department. The HR Representative supports the HR Department as a whole and provides backup to the Benefits/Payroll Administrator with day to day functions.


Maintains and tracks the hourly employee attendance Occurrences totals in accordance with the facility's Attendance Policy, ensure on time completion of attendance related progressive disciplinary actions by the Processing Supervisors

Monitor call off messages in the call off mailbox

Maintain and update employee mass notification system, ensuring safety, timely communications and outreach.

Order employee services awards and coordinate monthly distribution

Perform administrative duties including answering phones, sorting and distributing mail

Processes job requisitions, and manages current candidate activity in the applicant tracking system (ATS)

Schedules and attends job/career fairs with appropriate staff to generate qualified applicants

Screens resumes, interviews candidates (by phone or in person), coordinates background checks and new-hire drug testing, makes recommendations for hire (or not hire) and delivers employment offers for nonexempt position openings

Maintains records on recruiting activities as required

Complete Form I-9 for new hires and maintains Form I-9 records

Maintains employee referral program

Schedules, facilitates, and presents at new hire orientation

Send out documents/packages via USPS, FedEx, UPS

Creates and distributes monthly employee newsletter

Assist in maintaining the security access system and updating locker assignments

Enter training for the HR Department into the Training Database

Assist in maintaining HR communications and bulletin boards for compliance throughout all facilities

Attend seminars and training, read professional publications, maintain personal networks and participate in professional organizations to maintain and enhance core competencies

Expected to adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained in order to maintain SQF certification. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety

Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management

Participates in teams (i.e. HR Strategy Teams, Plant Continuous Improvement Teams, etc.)

Prepare reports as necessary for management, accounting, and outside vendors

May make decisions and perform the job responsibilities of the HR Benefits/ Payroll Administrator in their absence

Performs other duties as assigned

Associates Degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience

Proficient with computer applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook and payroll/HRIS related software

Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy


Associates Degree in Business, Human Resources Management, or Organizational Development

Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks and problem solve effectively

Must be professional in dealing with personnel issues including confidential information

Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred

Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills

Exceptional computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, Word)

PHR or other relevant certification preferred
