Job Description:
Position Title: Sr Payroll Specialist Position Location:
Hershey, PA This position is hybrid requiring 2 days in office per
week. Summary:Hershey's Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible
for the end-to-end payroll processing of Hershey's professional
employees in the United States, and serves as liaison to the plant
Payroll Coordinators to ensure timely completion of all scheduled
payrolls across Hershey's snacking portfolio. This position
operates within Hershey's Global Business Services (GBS), HR
department, and reports directly to the Corporate Payroll Manager.
The Senior Payroll Specialist is a highly visible role, and is a
key partner to numerous cross-functional stakeholders across the
company, and includes direct work with Hershey's Legal, Employee
Relations, Finance, Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), Global
Mobility, Total Rewards, Information Systems, Executive
Compensation, and Worker's comp. departments. Major
Duties/Responsibilities: Manages end-to-end payroll processing for
the U.S. employee professional group (4,600+ employees) in
Hershey's SAP database Liaison to plant Payroll Coordinators
ensuring timely completion of weekly & bi-weekly payrolls across
Hershey's snacking portfolio (7,500+ non-exempt employees) Stay up
to date with current federal, state, and local regulations to
ensure pay and tax compliance for employees in 49 states, 11 FEINs,
and 16 production/fulfillment facilities across 8 states Ensure
accuracy of timecards, and data integrity from 3rd party interfaces
within SAP Provide answers/direction to complex payroll inquiries
by employees, leaders, retirees, and partners Serve as subject
matter expert for worker's comp. audits, legal audits, employee
relations audits/requests, information system design, M&A
integrations, support pack and software updates, and testing system
and functional specification updates to and from interfaced
solutions Partner with plant payroll specialists to ensure process
optimization, standardization, training, and process documentation
Partner closely with GBS Accounting team for weekly & bi-weekly
payroll posting, month-end, quarter-end, and year-end activities
Work with external audit firm on Inpat/Expat wage & tax recording
Coordinate processing of complex tax scenarios as a result of
global mobility, stock option recording, tax equalization, and
other imputed income and taxable fringe benefits Coordinate with
Payables team for creation and disbursement of 1099-R and 1099-MISC
forms at Year-End Provide standard and ad-hoc reporting to
cross-functional partners Champion self-service tools, and author
knowledge articles on general payroll topics including employee
facing Hershey processes, as well as internal process documentation
Assist other payroll personnel with complex issues Knowledge &
Ability Requirements: Thorough understanding of automated
attendance, time, and payroll solutions Demonstrated knowledge of
payroll calculations, taxation, and regulations Strong analytical
and problem solving skills, with the ability to perform root-cause
analysis Demonstrated ability to extract and analyze data with high
competence utilizing tools and functions within programs like
Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets Ability to prioritize and
manage multiple tasks and deadlines with minimal supervision
Ability to quickly address discrepancies and work with a sense of
urgency Is flexible, agile, and thrives in an evolving environment
Proven ability to work with confidential information, using
discretion when disseminating information verbally, written, or
passed within data files High quality written and verbal skills,
with comfortability communicating with all levels of Hershey
management Takes pride and ownership in the role, builds strong
relationships, and drives personal career aspirations Preferred
Experience: Affinity with data, detail, accuracy, and motivation
for process improvement 5+ years processing multi-state /
multi-FEIN payroll Experience in large manufacturing environment
(5-10k) preferred Payroll certification (CPP) preferred Experience
with SAP preferred Education:Bachelor's degree in Business
Administration, Accounting, or related field, with consideration to
the right candidate with a combination of experience,
