Job Description:
The System Patch/Vulnerability Administrator position will be
primarily responsible for all system administration duties
associated with patch and vulnerability management.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) managing the
overall lifecycle and deployment of updates throughout the
enterprise. Areas of focus will include patch management system
administration, testing patches prior to distribution, performing
patch and software distributions, managing security configuration
of system(s), working with resources both within and outside IT to
coordinate updates, creating reports for management use, working
with 3rd parties, and demonstrating system health and compliance
based on pre-defined standards.
The System Patch/Vulnerability Administrator will perform Patch
management tasks including maintaining current knowledge of
available patches, deciding what patches are appropriate, ensuring
that patches are installed properly, testing systems after
installation, and documenting all associated procedures. The role
will recommend and implement system enhancements that will improve
the performance and reliability of the system including installing,
upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and
configuration management. The System Patch/Vulnerability
Administrator will act as point of contact for managing and
delivering various vulnerability and remediation reports, implement
security improvements by assessing baseline, evaluating trends, and
anticipating requirements. The role will maintain an up-to-date
understanding of emerging cyber threats facing financial
institutions and help to formulate vulnerability management
frameworks and working structures for initiatives associated with
infrastructure technology and system admin teams. The System
Patch/Vulnerability Administrator will also maintain smooth
operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination
with network, software, and system engineers, PC desktop
technicians, IT Security, project managers, end users, and IT
management. The role will also maintain design documentation on the
design of the patch management environment through detailed
topology, develop and document technical processes and procedures
as needed and analyze system requirements and determine equipment
and software requirements for solutions to problems by means of
automated systems. In addition, the role will test new releases of
products to ensure compatibility and minimize user impact, Adhere
to Information Systems security guidelines in all cases, report
project status as required for all recurring and non-recurring
efforts. The System Patch/Vulnerability Administrator will
Interact, meet, discuss, and troubleshoot issues with vendors;
evaluate vendor products, services, and suggestions and build
effective relationships with key stakeholders who own and support
IT infrastructure, applications, processes, and operations.
Finally, the role will maintain and report on patching and
vulnerability remediation metrics to demonstrate progress and
potential areas in need of improvement.This is a hybrid opportunity
that will require you to be in office at our headquarters (Enola,
PA) 2-3 days per week. The position may require in-person
training.EDUCATION:
- General and business knowledge equivalent to an Associate's
degree or Bachelor's
degreeEXPERIENCE:
- 2-3 years of directly applicable experience or related
experience 3-5 years of experience
in providing IT patch managementSKILLS:
- Experience in Patch management, patch automation, and
vulnerability management
- Knowledge of Windows server environment Active Directory and
Group Policies
- Strong technical knowledge of operating systems including
Windows Server, Linux, and Windows 10/11
- Strong experience with network hardware updates including Cisco
and Aruba
- Ability to work with system owners and product vendors to
troubleshoot issues relating to patch deployments and vulnerability
remediations
- Ability to utilize a variety of tools throughout execution of
job responsibilities, including but not limited to ManageEngine
Endpoint Central, Nessus, Tenable, Group Policy, Event Viewer,
PowerShell, and REST APIs
- Experience with standard scripting languages and methodologies
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems with
little or no assistance
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the
organization in written and oral format
- Technical background in Windows/Linux Operating systems,
security technologies, and network architectures
- Ability to remediate vulnerabilities; this will often require
more than deploying patches, such as changing registry values and
other types of configuration changes
- Requires research capabilities with intellectual curiosity to
figure out how to remediate vulnerabilities
