Innovation (T&I) Senior Engineer/Scientist will conduct and
support projects that develop new products and processes. This
support will include both the technical and operational aspects of
product and process development using or following Stage Gate
process.The incumbent must be able to operate both individually and
in teams and will support new product and process launches. The
individual will be responsible to support Materion's Operations,
Supply Chain, Quality, Sales, and Marketing teams; in addition,
some customer support may be required.Key RelationshipsReports to:

Technical Materials Senior ManagerMajor ResponsibilitiesComply with
and support all EH&S activities while operating in a safe,
honest and ethical mannerLead Stage Gate project activities through
performing manufacturing processes and testingLead several mid-size
to large projects within the plant simultaneously; in-plant focused
but may at times support cross-plant opportunities. Projects linked
to multiple products or technologiesLead projects that have
external or direct customer contactManage product ownership from
ideation to commercializationHelp identify both potential projects
for cost savings and new product opportunitiesProvide technical
support to internal and external customersSelf-directed and
provides communication and updates to T&I Management including
detailed writeups of completed projectsSupport other projects as
required in accordance with T&I Group standardsSupport cost
analysis for new productsRun projects according to the Stage Gate
process utilizing Lean Six Sigma tools as applicableMonitor and
measure focus and keep within established goals and
objectivesDevelop SOPs, Work Instructions, Process Flow Diagrams,
FMEAs, and Control Plans for new products and processes in
cooperation with Operations/QualityEnsure that safety and process
hazard reviews are conducted for new or modified equipment and
proceduresConduct customer visits as neededProvide mentorship and
coaching to junior engineers with fewer years of experience of
different areas of expertiseSupport the evaluation of new equipment
and processesGenerate, protect and document IP; support through
patent filing process as applicableTravel Requirements:Up to 25-30%
travel may be required based on business need.Candidate
Specification:Essential Qualifications/CapabilitiesBachelors'
degree in engineering, physical sciences or materials science field
(e.g. Metallurgy, Ceramics or Materials Science)Minimum of 6 years
of professional technical experiencePrevious experience in a
manufacturing environment, especially metal strip
processingDemonstrated ability to successfully lead technical
and/or design projects and teamsCan effectively communicate
technical information to both internal and external customers as
well as management in Operations, R&D, and Sales &
Marketing.Preferred ExperienceMasters or Doctorate in Engineering,
Physical Sciences, or Materials Science field, or significant
manufacturing experienceDemonstrated ability to resolve technical
issues on the manufacturing floorWorking knowledge of project
managementProven product or process development
