Prepares and stains routine surgical pathology specimens under

Picks up and accessions specimens for gross examination by Mohs
Surgeon and enters information into a computer log.
Embeds, cuts and stains tissue to produce high quality
histologic slides quickly and accurately for microscopic
examination and diagnosis by Mohs Surgeon.
Performs H&E staining and T-Blue staining.
Cover slips microscopic slides to be reviewed by surgeon.
Examines slides under microscope to make sure tissue preparation
meets laboratory requirements
Skillfully operates laboratory equipment used to process
specimens and performs daily and weekly maintenance of histology
Responsible for the management of the Mohs laboratory including
maintenance logs, ensuring adequate supplies, filing slides,
maintaining reagents and stains in compliance with OSHA and CLIA
Responsible for Quality Control analysis and corrective
Formulating Mohs transcript and procedure notes based on data on
the Mohs map
Submit slides as requested by supervising Physician to
pathologist for confirmation of diagnosis as needed.
Additional information on Mohs surgery
High School Diploma or GED
Experience as a histology technician (Preferred)
PC skills needed for efficient computer utilization
Effective communication and interpersonal skills are needed to
work with the surgical team, patients face-to-face, and through
Ability to work independently and trouble-shoot when problems
Monday-Friday 7am to 5:30pm (4 day work week)
