Job Description:


To act as a liaison between our patients and Telemedicine Remote Physicians to provide maximum efficiency in accordance with standard Telemedicine operating procedures. Patient advocate during remote exams.

Essential Responsibilities:

Compliance to all Covid-19 protocols including, but not limited to:

a. Observe best-in-class behaviors as it relates to social distancing and COVID 19 protocols: Install Social Distancing sign at store front. For Mall Locations advice patients to call before proceeding to the stores as signage will not be visible. Ensure chairs in waiting area are six (6) feet apart, to ensure recommended separation, where possible

b. Ensure associates understand the importance of social distancing, cleaning protocols and cleaning hygiene practices: frequent handwashing, not shaking hands, cover nose and mouth while coughing or sneezing, avoid touching eyes / nose / mouth with unwashed hands.

c. Confirm with patients prior to scheduled appointment to ensure all intake/screening questions are complete, identify essential needs & COVID-19 pre-screening are met and email Patient History paperwork to patients

  1. For patients with Telehealth appointments, Telehealth Specialists will be required to assist patients through the check in the remote eye exam process.

  2. Conducts pre-testing and specialized testing for tele-optometric exams, utilizing the following equipment:

a. Pre-testing I- preliminary case history including current Medical History and Ocular Health.

b. Pre-testing II - Autorefraction, Lensometry, tonometry, and topography.

c. Special testing - visual fields, fundus photography, video slit lamp photography, Optos image scan.

d. Wipe down all instruments in front of patient prior to exam

  1. Completing patient registration, gathering and submitting pertinent patient information including Medical History and Ocular Health data.

  2. Maintaining Patient Readiness through Appt. Confirmation, intake and MVC tool

  3. Ensure OD lens recommendation happens at all exams; Transfer patient and Lens Recommendation to retail associate

  4. Transmitting results from all pre-test instruments to secure server

  5. Initiate Remote Optical Assistant and Remote Doctor video conferencing

  6. Assit Remote Doctor and Remote Optical Assistant with refraction equipment placement and interacting with patients during Refraction

  7. Printing prescriptions, escorting patients to sales floor and Transitions patient for eyewear and contact lens purchase.

  8. Retrieves patient records to ensure complete information on file before appointment date.

  9. Ensure efficient patient flow by effectively communicating with team members and providers.

  10. Computer System & Equipment Operation - accurate data entry, accurate Pre-testing operation and maintenance of devices

  11. Performing opening and close-out procedures according to the Telemedicine equipment operational standards

  12. Participate in Telemedicine Specialized training of all responsibilities as assigned

  13. Adhere to privacy and confidential and proprietary company policies and procedures (i.e. HIPAA)

  14. Diligently maintain the cleanliness of all equipment, workstations and the overall facility on a daily bases

  15. When not functioning as the Telehealth Specialist the associate will assume the Retail roles and responsibilities.


  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience & Background:

  • Medical Pre-testing Equipment experience preferred
  • Minimum of 6 months' work experience in Retail, Sales or Customer/Patient Service preferred

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to apply concepts of basic math

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
