PURPOSE OF YOUR POSITION For the Joint Center-Assist the RN in the delivery of patient care by performing the functions of planning, implementing and evaluating patient care in accordance with established nursing care standards during your shift. GENERAL INFORMATION Must possess the ability to comprehend established office routines and policies and to learn quickly from oral and written instructions. Also necessary is knowledge of medical terminology. Must understand the ethics of confidentiality and possess good organizational skills. Also needed is the ability to communicate well with all people. Can effectively act as a liaison between patients and physicians. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Work requires very frequent walking to various areas of the department. Must be able to stand, bend, lift and grab necessary items to maintain and perform procedures (51-80% of work time). Work requires very frequently lifting of materials and equipment up to 50 lbs and frequent maneuvering and positioning patients up to 250 lbs. May be required to work with heavier capacities with mechanical lifts, walkers, additional staff, etc (51-80% of work time). Work requires other activities including; pushing/pulling wheelchairs, climbing stairs and stepstools, stooping and kneeling (21-50% of work time) Work requires manual dexterity for purposes of utilizing necessary equipment and evaluating patients. Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Generally good working conditions. Work may frequently involve unpleasant patient care#related activities (51-80% of work time). Frequent potential exposure to infectious diseases (21-50% of work time). Subject to injury from confused, combative patients, families and visitors. May be required to work weekends and multiple shifts and/or able to work #available status# Standard Precautions apply. QUALIFICATIONS Satisfactory completion of an accredited LPN program and a current Pennsylvania LPN license. BLS certification required. Pennsylvania state police criminal record check, child abuse history clearance and an FBI criminal history check required. Experience working with clinical documentation systems, hospital information systems, electronic health records, and scheduling systems preferred. Work requires basic skills in Microsoft Word. Work requires interpersonal skills to assist Registered Nurse in coordinating patient care activities and communicate with team members. Team collaboration is frequently required to provide the highest quality of care. A high level of social sensitivity when communicating with patients. Must be compassionate, professional, and empathetic when handling patient complaints and concerns while remaining focused on providing a positive patient experience (more than 80% of work time). Work requires analytical ability to assess patients and provide appropriate care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Must be able to integrate and interpret data from diverse sources to identify solutions. (51-80% of work time). Work requires a high level of mental and visual focus requiring mental application and attention to detail. Work is performed under tight deadlines in a fast paced, stressful environment, must possess excellent time management and functional organizational skills to manage a variety of tasks in a short period of time (more than 80% of work time).
