Reports to: Operations Manager/Facility Foreman
The Baler Lead will be responsible for the following:
Coordinate team members to ensure the most efficient handling
and processing of the material. Maintain a consistent flow of
material to each baler for optimal production of a quality finished
product. Work cohesively with dock team members and sorting leads
to determine schedules and production goals based on the daily
status/needs. Notify the maintenance and operations manager if the
equipment is not running efficiently or is in need of preventative
maintenance. Ensure that the bales being produced are clean,
contaminant-free, and contain all required wires for successful
shipping. Address quality issues swiftly and devise a plan to
Logistics & Organization
Maintain a clear understanding of the daily production goals and
requirements. Ensure that team members are processing material
safely and in a logical method for minimal repetitive (and costly)
movements. Maintain an organized, clean, and safe area.
Communicate immediately, clearly, and consistently to all team
members to ensure directives are understood and completed.
Verbalize any baling, grading or equipment issues or questions.
Oversee that all area production reports, vehicle inspections,
and any other company required documentation accurately,
completely, and consistently. Ensure validity and competence of
each operators' data. Provide daily attendance sheets.
Implementation of Policies & Procedures
Read and understand all company policies and procedures. Ensure
that you and all team members are adhering to those written
policies and procedures. Provide feedback and recommendations to
initiate positive workplace changes as needed.
Ensure that all team members in your area understand the goals
and expectations of their job. Provide all operators with thorough
training in the necessary job tasks and always completing those
tasks safely. Review, as needed, procedures and processes to ensure
that all team members are managing situations consistently.
Cultivate positive company culture and values
Serve as the direct conduit between team members and management.
Be available, respectful, and approachable to coach, train, and
guide. Provide consistent responses to challenges and procedures
for continued positive progress.
Employee performance management
Administer attendance & performance warnings as needed. Work
with management and HR to ensure professional warning
administration & coaching experiences. Conduct evaluations
(quarterly or annually as determined) to encourage positive
behaviors and retrain areas of concern.
Safety Area Lead
Ensure a safe working environment within the guidelines set
forth by OSHA. Monitor continually that all team members are
adhering to safety policies and practices (procced with set out
disciplinary actions as needed should practices not be followed).
Notify HR immediately of safety concerns or suggestions. Ensure all
employees (in your area) are properly licensed and trained in all
areas related to safety practices and procedures.
Research and accurately complete paperwork for any worker's
injury or incident. Consult with HR about the nature of the
incident and injury. Utilize incidents as training opportunities
with team members to review and avoid future issues.
