Summary:

The Hershey Experience Financial Analyst role will mainly support owned retail stores in Hershey and Times Square. With minimal supervision, this position will primarily focus on efficient and accurate oversight of accounting processes and value-added analysis of key financial metrics within The Hershey Experience (THE). Role will evolve to add additional support for sales accounting/analysis for new revenue streams such as D2C and new attractions.

This role will have other accountabilities around THE month-end process, including the preparation and posting of journal entries, monthly account reconciliations, and regular reporting and analysis of THE P&L.

Summary of major duties:

Sales to Cash Reconciliation

  • Provides a comparison of the various THE system (multiple sales systems) generated reports for Owned Retail and reconciles with cash. The areas included in the sales reconciliation are: Retail, Food Service, Wholesale, Attractions, Contract Services, and Times Square.
  • Investigate, research, and resolve all discrepancies by working with internal and external business partners
  • Perform all accounting, coding, reporting, and analysis to ensure payments are processed accurately and timely in accordance with company policies
  • Perform and analyze monthly general ledger account reconciliations in accordance with Corporate Accounting Standards
  • Prepare and analyze journal entries for month end closing
  • Analyze processes, recommend improvements and manage all internal controls
  • Role will evolve to support additional cash activities for new revenue streams.

Other Accountabilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of new business models from a finance and operations perspective under The Hershey Experience umbrella. This will require understanding various systems and processes to build efficient and automated financial ecosystems.
  • Collaborate with internal functional staff to understand functionality, integrations, or enhancements to existing financial systems to support overall objects and growth strategies
  • Create and maintain financial business documentation as it relates to functionality, integrations, or enhancements to existing financial systems
  • Promote enhanced financial acumen within The Hershey Experience organization through collaboration centered on sales analysis, results interpretation, insight sharing, and action plans.
  • Research trends underlying sales performance to assist in planning and achieving financial goals.
  • Analyze labor trends and support functional teams in managing cost center profitability

Month-End / Other Accountabilities

  • Provides critical input to overall THE month-end close process (Note that most THE retail store activity takes place in multiple systems outside of SAP and must be manually compiled and entered into SAP).
  • Prepares and posts multiple journal entries including Gross Sales, Trade, Discounts, and Receivables (includes accrued/deferred).
  • Compiles, analyzes and posts various cash entries and related P&L offsets.
  • Analyzes and reconciles key balance sheet accounts including bank reconciliations, prepaid accounts, and deferred revenue accounts.
  • Perform miscellaneous reports, special projects and analysis as required on an ongoing basis

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:

  • Proficiency to Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of SAP and willingness to learn subsidiary systems
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP knowledge a strong plus
  • Knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting and financial reporting processes preferred
  • Ability to work well with others and as part of a team while handling multiple priorities
  • Works under minimal supervision and serves as business advisor
  • Ability to analyze business processes, identify areas for improvement, and execute process improvement recommendations
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/areas of responsibilities simultaneously
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective business relationships and influence across the organization
  • Ability to produce accurate results in a fast paced and constantly changing environment

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Education:

  • BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, Economics, International Business, Business Administration or related degree required.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years progressive experience in finance, accounting, or financial field.
