About the Role
Base Location: Reading, London, Perth or Glasgow
Salary: -61,100 - -91,700 + car / allowance + performance-related
bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and
family.
Working Pattern: Permanent - Full Time - options available
The Regulation Business Partner role is an ideal opportunity for
someone with a passion for markets regulation who is keen to
develop their career at a senior level within a company committed
to delivering net zero. You'll be an expert advisor to the
business, providing advice on non-domestic regulatory requirements,
advocating for SSE to the regulator, and contributing to the
strategic direction of SSE's Energy Customer Solutions business in
Great Britain.
As Regulation Business Partner you will:
- Provide regulatory expertise, guidance advice on regulation,
industry codes and the impact on non-domestic business activities.
You'll understand the strategic and commercial priorities of the
business and provide analysis of policy issues to prepare credible
and achievable regulatory policy/industry code positions.
- Lead, build and maintain effective working relationships with a
range of external stakeholders such as Ofgem, trade associations,
consumer groups, Governments, industry code bodies and industry
participants to fully understand and interpret regulatory, codes
and policy changes.
- Advocate SSE's position across relevant external bodies,
developing and refining consultation responses and proposing change
to regulatory/codes frameworks.
- Deliver strategic objectives by engaging proactively with
internal stakeholders and other corporate teams to manage
expectations, provide focus and provide the required level of
support and response. You'll recommend and develop regulatory
policy change and code modifications to support business
strategy.
- Manage, motivate, and develop a team of individuals to deliver
consistently high performance.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- A fundamental legal understanding of regulatory, codes and policy
process along with the ability to interpret complex regulation,
industry codes, legal drafting and produce and draft
amendments.
- Able to get to the heart of complex issues and outline these in a
straightforward and succinct way, both verbally and written.
- Able to work with, collaborate and influence multiple internal
and external stakeholders at all levels, including a wide range of
business and specialist teams such as operational, commercial,
legal, corporate affairs, finance and strategy.
- Able to demonstrate commercial acumen, strategic thinking,
problem solving, and initiative.
- A proactive approach to leading, managing, and developing a
team.
About our Business
Our SSE Group and Markets Regulation function is accountable for
providing specific legislative, regulatory, industry code and
market arrangements advice and guidance tailored to the businesses.
We provide subject matter expertise and support to the management
of SSE's relationships with external regulatory stakeholders, such
as Ofgem.
