Berks Thun Library is looking for a part-time Library Specialist
(https://hr.psu.edu/libraries-specialist-part-time) . This position
is responsible for providing circulation services for up to 15
total hours per week, including Sundays (2 pm 8 pm) and flexible
hours during the week

hours will change during the academic school year

breaks, and over the summer. This position is part-time,
non-benefitted, and with a starting wage of $15.00 per hour. This
is an on-site position with limited flexibility for remote work.
Trainin g i s provid e d for al l functions of the position , no
library experience is require d . I n this position, you will: + Be
responsible for providing outstanding service to our community
(direct interaction with students, staff, faculty, and community
members) with empathy and clear communication. + Help others locate
information and identify appropriate resources for additional
support. + Make referrals for an in-depth library consultation . +
Check out/in books and equipment and confirm room reservations. +
Directly support students, including working with and learning from
our Student Library Assistants (SLAs). + Learn about the library's
catalog, electronic services, and various print collections with
the support of our team. + Follow the procedures for opening and
closing the library on time . On Sundays, you will independently
supervis e the library with possible assistance from a Student
Library Assistant (SLA) . + Notify the appropriate contact for any
facility or security concern. + Communicate any service concerns to
the supervisor and/or circulation team an d p rovide feedback to
improve services . Looking for these requirements: + Customer s
ervice experience through work, volunteering, or personal projects
. + Ab ility to clearly communicate through chat, email, and
in-person . + Competen ce in using multiple s ystems , w e bsites,
and tabs to checkout items and locate information . + C an sit or
stand at the circulation desk for 4+ hours at a time , guide a
patron around the library, push/pull a book cart up to 50 lbs ,
lift books and/or equipment, kneel to browse low shelves , use a
kick stool to browse high shelves . Reasonable a ccommodations are
