TheFinancial Analyst will support the delivery of world-class business performancemanagement, budgeting and reporting. Member of the US East and Power FinanceTeam delivering consistent, timely and relevant information to US East SeniorManagement; will also support the financial and commercial health of projectsand maximize profitability Purpose Supportslocal processes and timelines are established to meet the regional deadlinesand expectations as set by the Regional Manager of FP & A.SupportsLocation Management Reporting processes and systems for the delivery ofconsistent, accurate and timely management information (financial andstatistical) to enable efficient fact based decision making. Analysesand interprets Location management reporting; comparing budget/forecast toactual through collaboration with Manager Project Accounting, including KPIs,key business drivers and trends, overheads, business development activities andmarket conditions to support decision making. Ensuresthe accurate and timely consolidation of financial and statistical informationacross the Location, recognizing the complexity arising from the business. Supportsthe review of Financial data in Hyperion reporting system and ensure thisreconciles to ERP system, with adjustments where required. Preparemonthly Financial Location pack with FP & A manager prior to presentation tobusiness leaders. SupportsFP & A Manager in generating detailed overhead reporting actual vsBudget/Forecast with variance analysis, for discussion with budget owners toexplore cost reduction opportunities. SupportsFP & A Manager in generating location reporting, including o MonthlyInterim Results reporting o MonthlyHyperion cashflow reporting (if applicable) o Weeklycash collection reporting (if applicable) o Weeklychargeability and billability reporting (if applicable) o Weeklytimecard approval reporting (if applicable) o Collationof data for annual insurance renewals o Collationof data for government reporting o Collationof data for external market data reporting (ENR surveys etc) o Anyother ad-hoc reporting required Communicatesand operates effectively between location and region, demonstrating crossorganisational collaboration in order to achieve the correct balance betweeneffective regional operations and Local conditions/requirements. Workseffectively in a global, multi-cultural team in a remote/virtual environment. Implementstandardized reports and consistent coding in the location and in the country. BUDGETING AND FORECASTING SupportsLocation Budgets and Quarterly forecast processes and systems, includingpreparation, analysis, review, and interpretation of Location budget andforecast. Collaborateswith various stakeholders across the business to develop budgets and forecastthat are reasonable, while challenging assumptions to ensure that theunderlying business is reflected. Reviewsdata from departments (Project based and overheads) in Hyperion Reportingsystem, ensure data accuracy and setup correctly, and compares against expectedresults and KPIs Workswith FP & A manager to provide guidance to greater business community onbudgeting process and methodology. Responsible for the accurate and timelyconsolidation of location budgets and forecasts and preparation of Locationbudget and forecast results Implementstandardized reports and consistent coding in the location and in the country. CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT Supportsand contributes to the ongoing development of systems and processes to enhance managementreporting and budgeting processes. Effectivelyutilizes Microsoft BI and other IT applications that provide fit-for-purposeinformation for the business. Supportsthe development and implementation of dashboards and management reports to meetthe needs of all stakeholders, primarily utilizing Microsoft BI. Providesupport on more complex projects and ad hoc analysis. Contributes to the design of financialmodels, scenarios, and sensitivities for projects and reportingrequirements. Applies models andinterprets results. CASH MANAGEMENT Works with Billing Coordinators to ensure aninvoicing plan is in plan to maximize DSO for projects. Reviews DSO reports and assists in the developmentof corrective action plans. Works directly with Billing Coordinators and/orcustomers to ensure invoices have been received, approved, and actioned. Provides regular invoice status updates to ProjectManagers. Provide input into the cash forecast to ensureaccuracy and appropriate challenge to expedite cash collection. Reviews WIP/ AR reports with Project Managers toensure timely billing and collection. Attest / review project transaction documents andaccounts for accuracy and completeness, including sub-charges, data sheets,time reports, expenses, subcontractor invoices, etc. Works with Billing Coordinators in the productionof customer invoices, credit notes, and back up documentation. Ensures billings do not exceed approved budgetlimits and works with Project Managers and Project Controls to resolve issues. Drives timely recording of 3rd party invoices. PROJECT REPORTING/ANALYSIS Ensure processes in place to enable accurate weeklyrevenue recognition Weekly review of margins, WIP, Debtor and cashflow. Ensure intercompany payables or receivablesreconciled with counterpart and ensure prompt payment and received. Link between Accounts payable and project forcoding of invoices, ensuring that missing/expected invoices are accruedfor/accounted timely. Create and validate forecast/Budget for chargeablehours, sell/cost rates, resulting margin and ensure target is reasonable. Produces and analyses trend and variance reports asneeded. Gathers project accruals and provision informationas needed in line with IFRS Ensures for lump sum projects, that revenuerecognition is as per IFRS with full support of calculations and assumptionsused. Owns the accuracy of financial data as reported inmonthly MPRDs through collaboration with Projects team. Works closely with Project Controls and Finance Analyststo produce monthly reports and estimates. Works closely with project operations, controls andbilling coordinators to improve project administration processes andeffectiveness. COMMERCIAL SUPPORT Identifies areas of potential project gross marginimprovement; ensures accurate recovery of all costs as defined in the contractand ensures non-billable costs are minimized. Interprets commercial terms and conditions,including Foreign Exchange, tax, credit, and system implications on bids andtenders to ensure accurate and timely costing and revenue recognition. Ensures commercial summary in place for eachcontract as part of handover process from successful bid to execution. Works closely with Project Managers and ProjectControls, and participates in monthly project reviews to challenge thefinancial and commercial health of projects. Ensures project profitability is maximized for theproject. Ensures contractual and joint venture operatingagreement compliance and participates in audits and resolution activities. Ensure that DOA is adhered to for any write off oftime, expenses or invoices, non-billable time is approved per DOA, request forcontinuance of work where required Completeworking papers to capture use, accrual and draw down of contingencies; completeworking papers to address how we will account for project incentives. Job Specific Knowledge: Expert technical and analytical accounting skills, specifically in the areas of financial modelling and reporting. Must have either public practice or publicly traded company experience both would be preferable. Expert technical understanding of GAAP; maintains the highest professional ethics and standards. Industry Specific Experience: Engineering and construction project knowledge Consulting projects/processes knowledge a plus Education Qualifications, Accreditation, Training: Diploma in Accounting with a minimum of 6 years experience in a project accounting function, or; Relevant undergraduate degree with a minimum of 4 years experience in a project accounting function CMA, CGA, or CA designation IT Skills: Familiar with ERP environments, Oracle and Hyperion a plus Microsoft Power BI experience preferred Advanced Excel skills People Skills: Interpersonal: Builds appropriate, constructive, and effective business relationships throughout the organization; uses diplomacy and tact; is approachable; communicates clearly, accurately, and consistently both verbally and in written matters.
