The Buyer/Planner/Scheduler will perform and manage the procurement
of both direct and indirect material for the support of a
manufacturing plan via a MPS/MRP system and be responsible for
performing the production scheduling for one or more
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform and manage the procurement of both direct and indirect
material for the support of a manufacturing plan via a MPS/MRP
Adheres to corporate and SOX policies and guidelines.
Procure and/or schedule an inbound supply chain to align with a
manufacturing SOP while supporting plant inventory
Utilize judgment in coordinating supplier deliveries to minimize
freight costs while sustaining high inventory turnover.
Communicates with suppliers to ensure a gapless supply chain and
will take the initiative to elevate issues within the supply
Coordinates supply chain adjustments as production schedule
Supports in managing the plant spend vs. budgets for direct and
indirect material (i.e. shop supplies, equipment rent, managing
inventory levels, etc.)
Governs the complete procurement process from P/O submission to P/O
receipt. Individual will ensure that purchasing documents (i.e.
purchase orders), are processed completely and accurately and
submitted on-time to suppliers; responsible for maintaining correct
costs and integrity of P/O documents.
Responsible for communicating non-conformances to suppliers and
Monitor and report supplier on-time delivery; aggressively
communicates and manages through any issues that could impact the
manufacturing process and elevating concerns as necessary.
Persistently identifies, communicates, and responds to
opportunities for cost reduction / avoidance.
Individual will initiate cycle counts requirements and be
responsible for updating inventory records and reconciliation.
Will utilize discretion in making necessary adjustments to safety
stocks as deemed necessary to facilitate product availability while
maintaining the lowest possible inventory.
Will make appropriate adjustments to ensures that item master
integrity remains (ile., lead-time, B/P codes, MOQ, order multiples
Identify situations that require engineering change requests and
initiate accordingly (i.e. BOM adjustments, item definition
Instrumental in collaborating with all levels of the company to
plan, set, and support a Sales and Operations Production plan
Perform the production scheduling to maximize on-time delivery,
productivity, inventory turns, gross profit, etc; utilize level
loading practices for production lines by using plant loading tools
and lean methodology
Establish commitment (promise ship) dates for scheduled sales
Works directly with manufacturing to support customer on-time
Will work with the sales department and Corporate Master scheduling
to set long term production schedules and commitments for high
Communicates with respective departments on any schedule changes
that will adversely affect overall schedule execution or customer
Works directly with the Materials management team and fellow
associates to ensure that raw materials and customer supplied items
are available to support the production schedule
Other duties as required.
BS/BA degree in Supply Chain Management or related field, or
Understanding of Supply Chain configuration and principles
Strong understanding of production scheduling in a make-to-order
environment with 5+ years scheduling experience.
Knowledge of MPS/MRP systems.
Experience with AS/400 and discrete MRP planning a plus.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical skills
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Minimal travel up to 10% may be required
APICS CPIM certification a plus.
Working in an office environment in a seated position a minimum of
eight hours per day is required. Individuals may need to sit or
stand as needed. May require walking primarily on a level surface
for periodic periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder
heights, below the waist or Lifting as required to file documents
or store materials throughout the workday. Proper lifting
techniques required. May include lifting up to 25 pounds for files,
computer printouts on occasion.
The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure
to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the
use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with
side shields and mandatory hearing protection. Primary environment:
ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office
equipment as found in a typical office environment.
