SUMMARY:---- Director of Procurement needed to develop and execute
competitive global sourcing strategies within the raw materials
(alloys and scrap), bulk gas (Argon, Nitrogen, Oxygen) and
commodity category.-- The broad scope of the role includes building
strategic relationships and executing risk management strategies
for commodities, including Nickel, Cobalt, Titanium, Natural Gas
and Electricity to mitigate risk within the supply chain, manage
market volatility and ensure margin attainment.PRIMARY
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION:
- Align Carpenter sourcing strategies with global and local
sourcing objectives and deliver against targets for financial
performance, quality, service, and compliance
- Build strategic relationships to ensure close alignment with
the business team and supply base to accomplish financial and
growth initiatives
- Execute risk management strategies for strategic commodities
including Nickel, Cobalt, Titanium, Natural Gas and Electricity to
mitigate risk within the supply chain, manage market volatility and
ensure margin attainment
- Serve as a strategic advisor to Operations, Quality,
Regulatory, Commercial Business Units, Finance on Raw Material and
Commodities Markets
- Monitor macro-economic conditions, supply plan outlook and
competitive intelligence to develop hedging strategies to cover
market exposure across all commodities
- Analyze supply base, category market conditions, stakeholder
requirements, pricing/market trends and competitive benchmarking to
determine appropriate sourcing strategy
- Facilitate hedging strategy discussions with Director of Global
Procurement, CFO, Treasury, and other cross-functional leads as
required to communicate risks, coverage, and commodity positions
and targets
- Deliver the category management operating model within spend
category including strategic sourcing, process improvement, risk
management, supplier performance management and continuous cost and
performance improvement
- Execute Annual and Strategic Procurement Plans to deliver cost
of good budgets within stated annual goals and PPV targets
- Develop and implement cost savings/value-creation projects
across raw material category and commodities
- Lead cross functional teams and manage supply chain goals
improving value-to-cost relationship by focusing on total cost of
ownership, quality, delivery, service to achieve cost reduction
initiatives
- Establish and evaluate performance dashboards/KPIs/metrics for
raw material and commodities category
- Structure, negotiate, and manage supply agreements with supply
partners including complex long-term strategic agreements,
short-term requirements-based agreements and fixed price or index
supply agreements
- Influence relevant businesses functions throughout the
organization to achieve contribution to profit, growth, and
competitive advantage utilizing best in class procurement
principals
- Implement formal benchmarking methods to determine best in
class processes and drive operational efficiencies aligned with
emerging industry practices
- Lead Supplier Performance Management within spend category
including business reviews, supplier scorecards, continuous
improvement initiatives, and contract compliance
- Drive compliance with quality standards, AS9100 Quality
Management System and Conflict Mineral laws
- Lead, motivate, and develop employees within the Procurement
organization
- Support Carpenter Technology's Business Transformation (BTE)
initiatives including procurement business process design, gap
analysis, and change management plan
- Proactively engage, influence, and collaborate with the
Finance, Supply Chain, Quality, R&D, Legal and Operations teams
to ensure alignment on business objectives and project plans
- Manage the source-to-pay process to support manufacturing
operations across the organization to ensure standardization and
Best-In-Class practices are implemented
- Ensure compliance with Carpenter purchasing policies and
procedures, business code of conduct, ethical practices and
adherence to relevant laws and regulations
- Perform all other duties and special projects as
assignedREQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain,
Engineering, Metallurgy, or related field
- Ten+ years' experience in procurement, commodity risk
management, supply chain and global strategic sourcing
- Demonstrated knowledge of procurement systems, processes, and
procedures
- Experience in a multi-site manufacturing environment within
North America and globally
- Working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (SAP preferred) and
Digital Procurement Platforms
- Proven excellence in contract negotiation, contract management,
conflict resolution
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office SuitePREFERRED FOR THIS
POSITION
- Proven commodity management expertise with Nickel, Cobalt,
Titanium, Natural Gas and Electricity commodities strongly
preferred
- Knowledge of AS9100 Quality Management System and Conflict
Minerals Compliance
- Professional Certification (C.P.M., CPSM)
- Experience driving business continuity and supply chain risk
mitigation strategies
- Track record of delivering year on year cost savings and
continuous improvement initiatives
- Knowledge of best sourcing management techniques, practices,
and strategies, including strategic sourcing, fact-based
negotiation, supply market analysis, supplier relationship
development, and global sourcing
- Experience supporting the S&OP process and ability to
present supply/demand market conditions to Executive team and cross
functional Senior Leaders
- Demonstrated project management and execution skills with
ability to manage multiple large complex projects with competing
priorities and timelines
- Effective and demonstrated collaboration skills and ability to
lead cross functional teams
- Problem solver skilled at implementing process efficiencies and
innovative solutions
- Ability to influence stakeholders at mid to senior levels
across the organization and develop relationships with strategic
suppliers
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to plan,
implement, and execute procurement strategies
- Strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of financial
analysis, the ability to quickly analyze data, as well as
extrapolate and communicate business insightsCarpenter Technology
