manufacturing. Logistics Business Analyst Primary Duties Maintain a
safe and organized work environment. Analyzes and works with
Logistics Manager to prepare annual budget, budget re-forecasts and
five-year plans for distribution centers and logistics. Supports
analysis, planning and forecasting activities for strategic
initiatives for current and future fiscal years. Monitors and
manages the Logistics & Distribution budget and ensures budget
compliance for Internal fleet, Distribution Centers, and 3PL
contracts. Communicates analysis results, variances, and
budgets/forecasts to relevant parties on timely basis. Create,
organize, and review weekly/monthly forecasts of distribution and
transportation spending. Review and submit weekly invoices to
finance for transportation, distribution, and facility invoices.
Lead monthly "working sessions" with transportation teams on
developing and tracking Freight drivers and key operations metrics,
including weight optimization, miles/load, etc. Create reports on
transportation cost trends, carrier utilization and effectiveness,
develop and monitor reports for freight and logistics cost drivers.
Partner with FBP&A to develop, track and report distribution
and transportation forecasts and budgets. Recommend business and
cost improvement strategies within the warehousing and
transportation networks. Develops, implements, and manages fully
integrated reporting spreadsheets and databases to ensure accuracy
and efficient reporting. Support negotiating contracts and RFQs
based on Carpenter's business needs. Support creating and manage
proposals and documentation for capital projects. Model costs and
service impacts and recommend the best solution for Carpenter
Technology. Identify, lead, and participate in continuous
improvement projects as it relates to cost reduction opportunities.
Maintain a clear understanding of best practices both internally
and externally for continuous process improvement in the Logistics
Department. Establish and maintain good working relationships with
freight forwarders and transportation providers. All other duties
as assigned. Required for the Logistics Business Analyst Bachelor's
degree in Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Logistics,
Logistics Engineering, or Business Administration. 8+ years of
direct experience in logistics management and/or 8+ years of
relevant finance/accounting experience. Preferred for the Logistics
Business Analyst Masters Degree preferred but not required. Prior
work experience in logistics, freight forwarding, supply chain, or
metals industry preferred but not required. Experience with
procurement, finance, contract negotiation a plus. Experience
designing cost models for logistics and distribution networks a
plus. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and
advanced knowledge of Excel. Experience with data extraction using
SQL, Tableau, or similar tools. Strong analytic, financial
modeling, and reporting skills. Ability to demonstrate independent
thinking with problem-solving mindset. Demonstrated ability to
prioritize and manage projects from concept to completion within
time constraints. Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast paced team
environment with frequent deadlines. Must be organized, detail
oriented, self-motivated, and be able to function independently and
as part of a team. Must be comfortable dealing with multiple
agendas and driving decisions through influencing without
authority. Ability to solve a variety of problems in situations
where only limited standardization exists. Strong interpersonal and
communication skills and ability to build and maintain strong
working relationships across multiple business functions. Ability
to discuss detailed information with both internal and external
parties. Proactively identify continuous improvement opportunities
and demonstrate intellectual curiosity. Strong business acumen and
ability to share business knowledge with non-financial individuals.
Ability to interpret complex data and provide data in a meaningful
