ISRA, comprised of the Pennsylvania State Data Center and the Center for Survey Research, unites Penn State faculty and professional staff to carry out research and data services in the areas of public policy, community planning, information management, and evaluation. The Institute conducts approximately $3 million in annual sponsored research from the state, federal, philanthropic, and private funders. This position will provide technical support for ISRA's many research projects. The position is based at Penn State Harrisburg. ISRA is supportive of Penn State's Flexible Work Arrangements: https://hr.psu.edu/current-employee/flexible-work-arrangements . This is a limited-term staff appointment funded for one year from the start date with an excellent possibility of refunding. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with researchers at ISRA to design, develop, and implement technical solutions that support ISRA's research projects. We are looking for a team player who is committed to supporting ISRA's mission and growing research portfolio. Job Description:+ Collaborate with a team of ISRA researchers, faculty, and students.+ Identify and research technical needs and participate in project planning efforts.+ Design and create data collection, management, and analysis tools.+ Develop and maintain databases, websites, and interactive applications.+ Contribute to continuous improvement by adopting processes that improve overall efficiency.+ Test and deploy updates and fixes prior to launch.+ Ensure that University standards, accessibility requirements, coding practices, and security are being adhered to.+ Create technical documentation and instructions. Typical Experience:+ Experience with SQL and database environments/concepts, including relational database design and management.+ Experience with programming (.NET, Javascript, HTML, Python/R, etc.).+ Attention to detail, efficient time management, priority setting, and organizational skills.+ Ability to work on multiple projects both independently and in a team environment+ A commitment to quality and customer service.+ Problem-solving skills.+ Knowledge of server maintenance, virtual machines, and cloud services is a plus but not required. Position Level and Requirements:+ This position will be filled as a Level 2 or 3.+ The typical requirements for a Level 2 include an Associate's Degree or higher, 2+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience .+ The typical requirements for a Level 3 include a Bachelor's Degree or higher, 4+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience .
