Job Description:

Our Corporate Project Engineer is responsible for participating in and/or coordinating activities specific to facility modifications/additions, including new equipment/system selection, upgrades, customization, and installation. This position has no direct reports, but leads engineering projects and teams at all facilities. There is 25-30% travel, typically outside the area and overnight, and international travel may be required. This position reports directly to the Engineering Director.

Essential Functions

  • Manage capital projects for new building construction, existing equipment/infrastructure restoration, new equipment/infrastructure, and cost savings initiatives
  • Design production lines and infrastructures (building and utilities) to meet scope requirements and industrial best practices
  • Develop detailed cost estimates for capital projects and manage capital budgets to ensure optimized and competitive costs within the budget
  • Track and control project costs by approving expenditures; administering contractor contracts, monitoring, and controlling contractor productivity, optimizing, and controlling project design elements and scope
  • Delegate and assign tasks to members of the engineering team
  • Develop long-term predictive and preventive plans to improve equipment sustainability, and attainment of line effectiveness, yields, and competitive costs
  • Work closely with suppliers and contactors to optimize cost and efficiency performance and work regularly to find new suppliers able to propose new equipment, new design, or new performance
  • Document capital project issues, methods, timetables, and budgets
  • Perform other duties as assigned Skills & Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or other engineering discipline
    • 7+ years of related experience as an Industrial Engineer, Project, or Process Engineer within a food manufacturing facility
    • Demonstrated technical aptitude and strong experience with fluid mechanics, refrigeration (ammonia systems), heat transfer process, building/plant construction and new equipment installation with sanitary design
    • Strong understanding of USDA/3A sanitary design principles, OSHA, EPA and related regulations, industrial best practices engineering principles
    • Strong leadership and management abilities
    • Proven experience managing multiple projects in operating manufacturing facilities involving the installation of complex equipment, piping systems, electrical systems, and budgets
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal/written English communication and presentation skills
    • Proficiency with software applications including SAP, Microsoft Office365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
    • Must be flexible with work schedule and time zones and work overtime and weekends as needed Preferred Education and Experience
      • Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
      • Fluent in Spanish and/or French Qualifications
